In 2000, citizens from Ilion with a shared passion, concerns and anxieties about civic engagement created a Cultural Team with a view to make cultural interventions and expand their civic participation. They then established the KALLICHORON non-profit Cultural Company, based in Ilion, Attica; since then, they have been officially contributing to selected cultural actions, working together with relevant stakeholders, municipalities and organizations at a local and international level.
Staying away from economic benefits or other relevant links and obligations, always in the context of independent cooperation, they utilized the team’s potential through sincere human relationships and friendships and this has been, and still is, at the end of the day, their only reward: A work of sensitivity, based on cultural – human behavior and communication.
The first team members worked together in organizing joint events with departments of the MELINA MERCOURI Cultural Center of Ilion, as well as other creative teams and associations in the municipality of Ilion.
Three members of the team have been for quite some time members of the Board of Directors of the Ilion City Cultural Center.
Despite the difficulties faced during the recent years, they keep going, always optimistic.
